October 2024 Release Notes

Plate/sheet: Defect labels

For plate and sheet inventory, AccuFit has for a long time supported the ability for users to mark defective regions on the plate/sheet rectangle. These regions appear in purple on the diagrams.

Now, those defective regions are explicitly labeled with the word “Defect” along with the size of the region (if space allows).

Also, when a job piece or remnant in the cutting pattern overlaps with a defective region, that fact is indicated in the nesting table with either a purple defect region icon or the word DEFECT. The same label is also shown in the cut instructions. See below for examples.

(Note: AccuFit currently does not have the ability to automatically nest around the defective regions, but that is in the future plans. For now, the planner is responsible for manually editing the cutting pattern to avoid placing job pieces in the defective areas. For a better explanation, check out this video: https://youtu.be/l54V2e4gs8Q)

Plate/sheet: Cut time estimates moved in full-screen view

Previously, for plate/sheet or block plans, the full-screen view had an option to display the estimated cut times for each saw involved. These cut times were previously displayed as part of the nesting table. Now, those cut times have been removed from the nesting table and given a separate table of their own. Reminder, to display the cut times in the full-screen view, make sure to click the gear icon in the upper-right and select the appropriate feature.

Plate/sheet/block: Moved “Copy” button for cut instructions table

In the full-screen view for plate/sheet/block plans, the cut instructions table now has its Copy buttons on the far left instead of the right, for consistency with the other tables in that view.

General: Scoring penalty for use of newer tags

A new scoring category has been added. This category allows AccuFit to favor using older tags in inventory as opposed to newer (more recently received) tags. A corresponding penalty will be subtracted from the score for any plan that uses newer tags, if older tags are available and sufficient to fulfill the job requirements.

Note: This penalty is not appropriate for sites that don’t wish to favor the consumption of older inventory. To err on the side of caution, we have turned the penalty OFF for all sites, except those who have explicitly told us that they would like to favor older inventory. If you would like us to turn this penalty on for you, reply to this email.
